Hmmm, am I going to Israel?
Yesterday I found out that a New Yorker visiting Jerusalem last month was tested positive for Coronavirus.
They reported her whereabouts, hour by hour, during her visit and asked anyone that was in these particular places to self quarantine for 2 weeks.
The article was directed at the Israelis. According to The Times of Israel “The development came as Israel applied ever more stringent travel measures that have left thousands of Israelis under orders to go into self-imposed isolation. Though entry to the country has been banned for visitors from a list of countries, including several in Europe, the restrictions have so far not included the US.”
How soon will visitors from the US be banned? It sounds like people visiting Israel are causing disruption to the residents. Not good. I think about people visiting my residence of Phoenix, for our great spring weather. The visitors may be either from another state or country. I could go into quarantine because I was in Walmart, or the Spring Baseball Training snack bar, at the same time as them. Not good. Everyone is affected. World, we are in this together.
I can fear traveling. I can fear staying at home in Phoenix.
I also found out that even though I paid for full extended travel insurance where I can “cancel for any reason,” Coronavirus may not be a good enough reason! The trip is costing $5000.
I can fear losing a lot of money.
Fear can grip us and the Coronavirus is a new opportunity. Or losing money. Should we play along with fear?
My prayer a few months ago regarding this Israel trip: “Dear Jesus, I want nothing more than to visit Israel, your Holy Land, to be where you were. There are reasons based on medical fears, wrong timing fears, too busy fears, that are valid, why I may want to cancel this trip. I need you to step in, remove my fears and help me trust you. From this point forward, I choose to go to Israel unless you cancel my trip Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
If God doesn’t want me to go on this trip, He will cancel it. HE IS IN CONTROL.
