We hadn’t been to the sea for quite awhile and missed it. We purposely took a JULY vacation to Leucadia California to see the ocean. Our airbnb had mis-advertised the distance to the ocean, and walking to the beach was close to 2 miles, not an easy feat if you wanted to spend the day and needed to tote blankets, food, towels etc! Then to get to that beach, you had to walk from the top landing, down a steep winding slope. And the beach had little space to pitch a blanket. It was still beautiful as all God’s oceans are, but my expectations of stepping out the airbnb door and laying at the beach all day, hadn’t happened.
In AUGUST, we visited relatives in various states and a dear friend, who treats me like her daughter. One of the relatives was in the U.P. so we booked a motel near Lake Michigan. Since our main purpose was to hang out with the relative at their house, I didn’t try to arrange our motel to be close to the lake.
One evening, on foot, we randomly explored the area. 0.3 miles later and with no street signs pointing, we found an isolated beach, waves gently lapping, sun setting, complete serenity. Huge surprise!
Exactly what I desired, only a month later.

Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

We’ve never been to the Upper, but love Lake Michigan north of Milwaukee. A Great Lakes tour to go around each of the “ponds” is on our bucket list! 😎
